With one month to go, Organic Produce Summit 2023 is on track to be the largest in the event’s history and will include several new additions to a robust two-day gathering celebrating the world of organic fresh produce.

California avocado season generally runs from spring through summer, making June a perfect time to celebrate California Avocado Month. The California Avocado Commission is using an integrated support plan including public relations outreach, retail promotions, foodservice chain programs, social media and more to market this year’s celebration.

Michael Muzyk, longtime president of Baldor Specialty Foods and an icon in the food distribution industry, will retire at the end of 2023.

This morning Grubhub employees received an email from CEO Howard Migdal, letting them know that the company would be laying off about 15 percent of employees. Migdal, who joined Grubhub in March, said the cuts would affect approximately 400 employees.

The FDA Final Rule on FSMA Section 204 published in November 2022 adds the requirement to capture and record Critical Tracking Events or CTE’s, which the FDA defines as an event in the food supply chain involving the harvesting, pre-packing cooling and initial packing of a Raw Agricultural Commodity “not obtained from a fishing vessel, shipping, receiving, or transformation of the food.”
