Bland Farms Onions: Pink Packs, Big Impact!

blandWhile consumers have enjoyed a longer-than-usual season for the famous Georgia Grown Vidalia® Sweet Onion, all good things must come to a (temporary) end. But the good news is that in October, Bland Farms will transition to another fan favorite — their Premium Sweet Onion from Peru — and these mild, sweet gems will debut in pink packaging in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Bland Farms is a proud supporter of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), and their annual donation reflects a commitment to finding a cure. The pink packs serve as a reminder that even small conversations can make a big difference. So, whether customers are gearing up for a game day spread or prepping a holiday meal, they’re not just cooking — they’re raising awareness and supporting the fight against breast cancer, one onion at a time.

Just as the cause goes on year-round, so does Bland Farms’ commitment to delivering the sweetest, top-quality onions. Delbert Bland, owner of Bland Farms, was the first in the industry to offer sweet onions all year long by growing Premium Sweet Onions in Peru and Mexico. When Vidalia season ends, Bland Farms seamlessly transitions to their Premium Sweet Onions from Peru — something they’ve been doing for over 28 years. “With our own employees on the ground in Peru, we take a hands-on approach to ensure every onion meets our high standards, from seed-to-shelf,” said Bland, proud of their close involvement in every step of production.

The dry growing conditions in Peru are ideal for cultivating sweet onions. “We can control how much water our Premium Sweets get through drip irrigation. This allows us to ‘spoon-feed’ the onions exactly what they need, ensuring consistent quality and size.”

Bland Farms has already begun exporting their Premium Sweet Onions and are ready to transition from the Vidalias in early October. “We have a beautiful crop in Peru this year, and we’re pretty excited about it. We have good size, good quality Premium Sweet Onions, and things are moving along,” said Bland.

Bland Farms is also excited about partnering with Big Green Egg for the second year in a row to bring fans the Gameday Sweetness Promotion. Throughout football season, consumers can participate in exciting giveaways on Bland Farms’ Instagram and Facebook for a chance to win great prizes. Plus, they can enter the Gameday Sweetness Sweepstakes on Bland Farms’ website for a shot at the grand prize: a Large Big Green Egg Grill with an integrated Nest+Handler and Mates Package (valued at $1,769) in February. Retailers can get in on the action by making it easy for customers to enter by scanning the QR code on Bland Farms’ Gameday Sweetness POS posters and bins. In addition to great prizes, consumers will also find mouth-watering Gameday Recipes on the Bland Farms website. Whether it’s the crowd-favorite Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onion Smashburger or the indulgent Sand Candy® Sweet Potato Biscuits topped with Vidalia® Onion and Orange Marmalade, tasty Gameday Recipes are sure to score big with guests.

Premium Sweet Onions from Peru and Sand Candy Sweet Potatoes have long been a winning combination for their flavor profiles and nutritional value. The Covington variety of Sand Candy® Sweet Potato, grown in the nutrient-rich soils of North Carolina and Georgia, boasts a naturally sweet flavor and vibrant orange flesh. Packed with vitamins A and C, as well as essential minerals like potassium and fiber, these sweet potatoes not only taste delicious but are also a wholesome addition to any meal.

Just like these fall favorites bring people together, Bland Farms is excited to reconnect with long-time clients and make new connections at this year’s International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show from Oct. 17-19 in Atlanta, Georgia.

‘The Global Produce & Floral Show is always a highlight of our year,” said Sloan Lott, director of sales at Bland Farms. ‘We look forward to catching up with familiar faces, meeting new ones, and engaging with others in the industry. It’s an incredible opportunity to showcase what we do best and celebrate the people who keep this industry thriving. This year, as part of our Gameday Sweetness Promotion, we’ll be giving away a Big Green Egg MiniMax Grill at our booth.”

Visitors will find Bland Farms in the Georgia Grown Pavilion, booth  No. BC323, proudly sharing the heritage that has kept them ‘Rooted in Tradition’ through three generations. So stop by, say hello, and learn more about what the world’s largest grower, packer and shipper of Premium Sweet Onions is sprouting next! And, of course, enter a drawing for a chance to win a Big Green Egg MiniMax Grill, perfect for your gameday festivities.
