NuBerry Farms strengthens position in blueberry category
NuBerry Farms is a fully vertically integrated blueberry supplier with owned farming operations across domestic and international growing regions, providing retail partners with consistent quality, supply security, and year-round program support.
NuBerry Farms oversees approximately 2,600 acres of blueberry production across Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina and Michigan, supported by packing facilities in Georgia, New Jersey and Michigan to provide customers with consistent supply and quality throughout the year.
New Jersey is a key component of NuBerry Farms’ domestic blueberry program and plays an important role in bridging seasonal supply into the Northeast. Despite weather-related crop challenges this year, New Jersey remains strategically important for both regional supply and long-term growth.
Naturally, weather has been one of the biggest factors impacting the 2026 crop so far, particularly across Florida, Georgia and New Jersey. Freeze events, rain and labor disruptions tightened early-season supply and reduced production in some areas, especially in certain New Jersey varieties.
“The 2026 season started with tighter-than-normal early supply due to freeze events across Florida and the Southeast, but overall fruit quality and demand have remained strong,” said Ali Dandrea, part of the company’s sales team. “We expect good sizing and promotable volume as the season progresses, with a continued focus on premium quality fruit across both domestic and import programs.”
In 2026, the company is heavily focused on expanding its year-round integrated supply platform through additional grower partnerships, research partnerships for premium genetic varieties and packing/logistics capabilities.
“Continued growth in Peru, expansion of premium branded programs and strengthening retail-ready execution remain major priorities,” Dandrea said.
Jumbo blueberries, premium conventional programs and organic blueberries continue seeing especially strong demand in 2026.
“Retailers are increasingly focused on flavor profile, firmness, bloom and premium shelf presentation, particularly for branded programs,” Dandrea said.
One trend the company has noticed is retailers and consumers are becoming increasingly focused on premium shelf presentation, larger berry sizing and differentiated variety-specific programs centered around flavor, bloom, eating experience and shelf life.
“We continue to see strong growth in larger pack formats, jumbo blueberry offerings, grab-and-go packaging and premium branded programs like ‘Sweetest Pick’ that help retailers create greater separation and value at shelf level,” Dandrea said.
NuBerry Farms is involved in the growing, packing, importing, sales and the logistics side of the business, allowing the company to maintain far greater visibility and control throughout the supply chain.
“That vertical integration allows us to react quickly during supply disruptions while providing customers with more consistent quality, execution and year-round coverage,” Dandrea said.
The blueberry industry continues to face challenges tied to labor availability, weather volatility, freight costs and rising overall production expenses and NuBerry Farms addresses these challenges through diversified global sourcing, integrated logistics and cold chain operations and continued investments in farm ownership and strategic growing partnerships to help ensure consistent supply, quality and execution throughout the year.
“Our premium and jumbo blueberry programs continue expanding as retailers are looking to differentiate with higher-quality offerings and stronger eating experiences,” Dandrea said. “Customer feedback has been very positive, particularly around consistency, appearance, sizing and shelf life performance.”
In the months ahead, the company sees significant growth opportunities through continued blueberry consumption growth, expanded premium offerings and stronger year-round supply partnerships with retailers.
“As the category evolves, NuBerry Farms plans to continue growing through vertical integration, global sourcing and investments in quality and execution,” Dandrea said.
