Berry Fresh will bring premium blueberry genetics from Mountain Blue Orchards to the U.S. and Canada through its farms in Peru and Mexico, beginning in fall 2027.

The agreement, signed last month between the two parties, strengthens Berry Fresh’s blueberry offering, with plantings commencing in 2026 and fruit arriving to customers for the 2027 season.

Despite spring freeze events that impacted growers throughout New Jersey and other East Coast growing regions, Variety Farms remains optimistic about the upcoming season and the long-term outlook for the blueberry category.

Founded in 1931 by a group of South Jersey farmers looking to create a centralized marketplace for fresh produce, the Vineland Cooperative Produce Auction Association has grown into one of the premier produce auctions on the East Coast.

The acquisition strengthens Fall Creek's genetics platform with the addition of raspberries and blackberries while maintaining its global leadership in blueberries and extending the company's ability to serve growers who operate across multiple berry categories.
