Ramsan Foods looks forward to strong avocado season ahead
Ramsan Foods is a 100 percent Mexican-owned company that focuses on avocados as spring approaches.
“As Roots by Ramsan Inc., we are very excited to begin the new season starting this spring,” said Alejandro Ramos Sanchez, CEO of the company. “We are getting to know new people as well as new clients. We are also presenting our new avocado product which is the 100 percent avocado pulp.”
Avocados are the top product in Ramsan’s portfolio, and the company prides itself on delivering them at peak freshness, moving the fruit from tree to packing house and shipping it within just four days to ensure the best taste for its clients.
“In this business, we look in many different situations during the year such as market price, competitors, fruit damage and most importantly, supply & demand because it is pretty difficult when the market gets oversaturated,” Sanchez said.
Currently, the company sells to multiple states, with California ranking second and accounting for 30 percent of total sales. That’s a change from when it first started and California only represented 10 percent, with Texas accounting for 50 percent and Florida 40 percent.
“Our clients have grown pretty fast over the years,” Sanchez said. “We have very good clients in different states across the country and our secret to the strong partnership is not failing in the product we deliver and the trust we have built along the years.”
More than that, Ramsan’s success comes from being ready for any challenges that have come its way. Sanchez noted there is a lot of fruit in the market and clients look for the best price, so when oversaturation occurs, it gets really complicated to move the fruit.
“We are in solid partnerships and that’s how we overcome this challenge,” he said. “You have to be able to keep moving forward regarding the difficulties you may go through during the season. Sometimes you are going to have great numbers and sometimes you are going to have losses, that’s the truth. There is no easy way to manage this business without any risk.”
For Ramsan, the upcoming avocado season is looking good so far and Sanchez expects a good year for sales.
“The only difficult part that I can think of is the oversaturation in the market,” he said. “When all the countries get in the game, there is an oversaturated market and the prices drop. But overall, I think it will be a good season.”
As the company continues to evolve and grow, it’s seeing expanding opportunity as well.
“We are targeting to get the most states and clients as possible since we have the capacity to provide,” Sanchez said. “Our office is actually based in San Diego, but we are looking forward to opening a new office and cold storage in Texas this year.”
For 2026, Ramsan will continue its quest in delivering the best product, and living up to the promises and agreements it has made with its customers.
“Both parties build up trust, and I think that’s the key to a successful business,” Sanchez said.
