MVP Logistics looking forward to its second year at the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market
MVP Logistics LLC, located on the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market, opened its doors in 2013. It is headed by Managing Partner Tom Aupperle, a highly experienced logistics’ expert.
“Our first full year went very well,” said Aupperle. “Our forte is bringing loads out of all major growing areas, including from all corners of the U.S. and product that is produced in Mexico that comes in through Texas and Arizona.”
The first year in business, MVP Logistics billed 50 customers. Besides servicing customers who are located on the PWPM, it has clients in Maryland, central and eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and as far north as Chelsea, MA. The company specializes in perishables, but it also hauls loads of dry goods for customers.
“We are a brokerage firm,” said Aupperle. “We make agreements with our customers for loads and then we go through our database of carriers to choose the right one for each load, depending on the product being shipped and where it’s going from and to.”
He added that MVP Logistics has between 40 and 50 trucks on the road on any given day. It provides its customers with 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week service with real-time email updates for pickups, deliveries and travel status.
“Customers always know where their shipments are,” said Aupperle. “As we enter updates into our computer system, emails are automatically issued to keep them completely updated.
“We plan to bring a couple more staff members on board in the coming future,” he continued. “We’re growing in conjunction with the demand for our logistics services. Once our core base is as strong as we would like it, we will have more employees. That will give me the opportunity to get out of the office to build even more business in the future.”
