Mike and Mike’s rebrands, expands and repackages
After only 10 years in business, Mike and Mikes Inc. has seen substantial growth, resulting in a $1 million investment into rebranding, expanding and repackaging.
As of September 2014, the company will be called Mike and Mikes Organics.
Its Woodbridge, Ontario, facility will double in size to 43,000 square feet.
The company’s secondary brand, Organic Select, will be retired and all products will be sold under the Mike and Mikes Organics™ brand name. This includes nuts, dried fruits and mixed fruit and nuts.
The snacks will also be repackaged in a new convenient, stand-up, re-sealable zip-top pouch.
State-of-the-art, automated flow-wrapping equipment has been purchased to flow-wrap produce. The wrapping will keep items fresher longer and allow retailers to market the food more accurately.
“Mike and Mikes started with a simple vision, to provide retailers with the freshest organic fruits and vegetables and the best customer service in the industry,” said Mike Fronte, principal of Mike and Mikes Organics. “Ten years later, we have a 35-member team, offering customers over 300 fresh, organic items per week.”
“The time is right to rebrand,” he continued. “Our focus is on organics and environmentally friendly processes in everything we do. One example is our comprehensive environmental-sustainability policy that has contributed to 86 percent waste diversion to recycling and composting. Mike and Mikes Organics also supports Second Harvest with our ‘less than perfect’ excess food donations.”
Mike and Mikes Organics is one of the larger organic suppliers of its kind in Ontario, and the only exclusively certified organic non-farm based produce distributor in Ontario.
By staying true to its core values, it has earned the reputation as the go-to distributor for grocers looking for organic produce.
Their products can be found at major retailers including Loblaws, Longos, Metro and Whole Foods, as well as most health and natural food retailers.
The company is on pace to grow 20 percent for fiscal 2014 and anticipated growth to continue at that rate over the next three to five years.
