The Michigan Apple Committee continues to share its health message with consumers. This relates to the value of consuming fresh fruits and vegetables; especially apples. This consumer message will receive the greatest boost after the holidays, in the first part of 2015.
Also, the Michigan Apple Committee will soon make an announcement on sending its winning representative this November to the World Food Championships in Las Vegas.
Smith said the apple committee is reworking its website and will release new point-of-sale materials “when the website is done and ready to go.” The new site will have a section for kids and will highlight the health benefits of eating Michigan apples.
“The retailers have been excited about what we’ve been taking to them. The major guys are all on board and there is great interest in our promotions. Every retailer is different and we customize our promotion to what is best for them. This is not one cookie-cutter promotion.”
