Market Fresh Produce owner takes on two equal partners
Market Fresh Produce LLC in Lee's Summit, MO, has announced a new partnership structure between Anthony Totta and Steve Phipps and Jim Cipriano. Mr. Totta previously held full ownership of the company, but now the three partners hold equal shares of the firm. The new management team brings years of industry experience with it, which will be instrumental in MFP reaching the goals it has set for its future.
Mr. Cipriano brings over 30 years of experience to the firm. His vast knowledge in repacking and forward distribution will be instrumental in his role with MFP. Additionally, he owns Arrow Farms and Desilva Fruit Co. Mr. Phipps brings over 28 years of experience to Market Fresh - more than 18 of which have been in retail. In retail, he has a strong history of developing retail programs that get results. As national director of sales and marketing for NationFresh, Mr. Phipps formerly led that firm to become a powerhouse in the fresh tomato industry.
MFP founder Mr. Totta has over 30 years of fresh produce experience. He has led successful marketing efforts for two of the nation's larger potato grower-shippers and has recently led a sweet potato marketing effort benefiting operations from small grower-shippers to a multi-state major players in the sweet potato industry.
This partnership strategically fits and strengthens the overall resources of MFP, a fresh produce marketing organization focused on consumer-centered creative marketing concepts that get results.
Market Fresh Produce is part of a network of grower partners united to create best-in-class flexible procurement and supply-chain management. The new structure enhances the overall value exchange that the firm brings to its nationwide customer base because it ties MFP to additional resources. The firm's vast grower network enables it to effectively supply the volumes required by today's national, regional and local customers, while at the same time providing and monitoring the premium product specs that its customers have come to expect.
Market Fresh Produce LLC has added to its produce line. Its two-pound sweet petite yam ships as an 18-count two-pack mesh in a common footprint, high-graphic, display-ready box. Every package comes with the 5 A Day logo, product recipe and toll free consumer feedback number.
Initial shelf tests on the two-pound sweet petite yam have shown significant sales and consumption increases of fresh sweet potatoes when the item is added to a retailer's total produce offerings. The product size also contributes to increased sales; the sweet petite yams are between four and six ounces and offer consumers a quicker preparation time.
Since 1998, the Market Fresh family has evolved into a leader in the produce industry. The MFP team represents generations of experience at the local and national level, and a significant part of the firm's business is sweet potatoes.
