Lisa A. Fetterhoff, sales associate for Keystone Fruit Marketing Inc. in Greencastle, PA, said that the company was blessed with an excellent crop this past fall that should supply its customers with apples throughout the spring.
“Our grower-shipping partners did an excellent job during the harvest season,” said Fetterhoff. “They managed quality going into storage, and since then there have been no noticeable issues as we move into controlled atmosphere storage.”
In addition to apples produced by several major Pennsylvania growing partners, Keystone Fruit Marketing’s line of fresh produce also includes onions, such as New York Bold, hybrid and sweet onions. It also handles asparagus and peaches.

On this season’s apple supplies, Fetterhoff said, “We anticipate good supplies and stable markets that will enable customers to promote with confidence.”
She noted that demand so far this season has been excellent.
“We attribute this excellent demand to the outstanding eating quality on the shelf,” she said. “This provides consumers with a consistent positive eating experience. We look forward to this trend continuing into the New Year. In January, we typically see increased demand as consumers get back to healthy eating after the holidays.
