Kevin Precht moves into full-time position with CAMA
Mr. Precht, former Perishables Group account manager for the Cameo Apple Marketing Association, moved into a full-time position with CAMA as its new marketing program director in what he termed a "transition" made in late April.
Mr. Precht, who works out of the association's Wenatchee, WA, offices, said that the basic change in his role is that he will now answer to the CAMA board of directors directly rather than through the Perishables Group. However, he stressed that the national Perishables Group and its Executive Vice President Steve Lutz will continue to be involved, handling public relations and data gathering as they have for several years.
Its not a huge change for me, he said of leaving his three-year stint with the Perishables Group. My role continues to be to formulate retail offerings of our program and to work with retailers in developing their apple category.
Mr. Precht said that for the current crop year, he will be working on the upcoming Fathers Day promotion, which last year proved to be a good springboard for summer demand.
We received a good response, he said. Retailers understand that developing a late-season promotion program is a good way to tap into summer demand and the strength of the Cameo, which is that they are a late-season, excellent storage apple.
For the 2005 crop, Mr. Precht said that there are several campaigns in the planning stages. One involves introducing a second Cameo SKU into retail, with the goal of rejuvenating bag sales.
And were also developing export sales, targeting Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Were very excited about it, Mr. Precht told The Produce News.
