Doug Evans, founder and chief executive officer of Juicero, an at-home cold press juicing system, has been added as the final keynote presenter at the upcoming Organic Produce Summit in Monterey, July 13-14. Evans is a long-time champion of organic fresh produce, having served as the CEO of Organic Avenue, where he helped establish the company as a leader in the organic juice and raw food marketplace.

Evans will join Laura Batcha, president of the Organic Trade Association; Chad Hagen, SunOpta's vice-president of consumer products; and noted former New York Times columnist and co-founder of Purple Carrot Mark Bittman as featured presenters at the first-ever event focused exclusively on organic fresh produce.
"A core passion and purpose of mine is to drive the demand for organic produce," Evans said in a press release. "It's an honor to be part of this summit with so many esteemed farmers, packers and industry experts.”
The day-and-a-half long event, the first of its kind celebrating the growing organic produce marketplace, sold out of exhibit space last month. Additionally, the Organic Produce Summit has received confirmation from 45 different retail and buying organizations who will be attending the event. These retail organizations total over 23,000 stores across the United States and Canada. A list of those attending the inaugural event can be found at www.organicproducesummit.com.
Additional educational seminars hosted by the Organic Trade Association are being finalized with an array of established industry educators and leaders serving as panelists in three different educational sessions. A fourth educational session on the growing e-grocery sector and organic produce is also being finalized with panelists Tony Stallone, vice president of merchandising for Peapod, Mike Buffington of IdeoClick and Thaddeus Barsotti, co-CEO of Farm Fresh to You. Kevin Coupe, founder of The Morning News Beat, will serve as moderator.
The OPS is co-sponsored by Taylor Farms and Braga Fresh with support from other major sponsors, including Tomorrow’s Organics, VBZ & Sons, Homegrown Organic Farms, Earthbound Farms and Driscolls.
