U.S. Customs & Border Protection officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility discovered packages containing 655 pounds of marijuana in a commercial trailer hauling a shipment of jalapeños.
“This is another outstanding seizure from our CBP officers at the Pharr cargo facility; remarkable interception,” Port Director Severiano Solis, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas port of entry, said in a press release.
The seizure occurred on May 27 when CBP officers assigned to the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility encountered a white 2000 Freightliner tractor trailer. After the conveyance was referred for a secondary inspection, CBP officers utilized a non-intrusive imagining system to locate the narcotics. CBP officers extracted 57 packages containing a total of 655 pounds of alleged marijuana co-mingled within a shipment of jalapeños.
CBP OFO seized the drugs, valued at approximately $130,953. The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.
