Tradition meets innovation at Bottomley Farms
Tradition meets innovation at Bottomley Farms
Bottomley Farms grows more than just crops — it grows legacies, nurtures communities and sows seeds for a better tomorrow. As a proud family-owned and operated farm, its roots trace back to the late 1960s when it began with a single, humble crop: cabbage. From those early days, its passion for agriculture and commitment to quality has helped the company evolve into one of the most dynamic farming operations in the Southeast.
Through decades of dedication, and yes, its fair share of trials and learning experiences, the company has cultivated a business built on resilience, responsibility and results. Today, Bottomley Farms operates across more than 40,000 acres spanning the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains of northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia. This unique location provides access to three distinct climate zones, allowing it to extend its growing season and deliver fresh, high-quality produce from May through November.
Diversity in Agriculture – From Field to Table
While the company's foundation began with cabbage, its passion for farming led it to explore a broad range of crops. It now proudly grows:
- Over 1,500 acres of sweet corn
- Over 1,200 acres of Cabbage
- Nearly 600 acres of leafy greens including kale, collards, mustard, and turnip greens
- A variety of organic vegetables, such as red and green cabbage, and red, green, and black kale
- Premium broccoli, cilantro, beets, parsley (Italian and curly), and radishes
The company is proud to meet the growing demand for organic produce while continuing to serve customers with the freshness and consistency they expect.
More Than Just Veggies
Bottomley Farms isn’t just about vegetables. It's a vertically integrated agricultural business that also:
- Plants over 1.4 million Fraser fir trees annually for Christmas tree operations
- Manages 5,000 acres of carving pumpkins
- Raises over 20,000 head of cattle
- Produces 7,000 acres of field corn
This level of diversity allows the company to sustain its land, create year-round employment opportunities, and provide a wide array of high-quality products to customers across the country.
A Legacy of Family, Quality, and Commitment
What truly sets Bottomley Farms apart is its people. As a multi-generational family business, it treats its team and customers like family. The company has built its operations on values of hard work, honesty, and continuous improvement. Every challenge it has faced has taught the company how to be better stewards of the land and more reliable partners to those it serves.
