Hronis: It’s been a good year for grapes, citrus
Hronis Inc., headquartered in Delano, CA, plans to add three additional rooms to cold storage. The rooms will be operational in mid-September.
The family-owned-and-operated company has been farming premium table grapes in the southern San Joaquin Valley since 1945 and added navel oranges to its manifest in 1988.
The company does not work with outside growers. “A family member is involved in all phases of the operation, beginning to end, and we are already starting out our next generation,” the company’s website states.
Pete Hronis, vice president of sales and marketing, said a third of the company’s table grapes are harvested during the fall season.
Varieties marketed during the fall are Autumn King, Allison and Autumn Royal.
“This has been a great year,” he told The Produce News. “Size and quality on the grapes are excellent.”
“The upcoming citrus crop looks good on the tree,” he added.
Table grapes are marketed under the “Hronis Ranch,” “Delano King,” “Golden,” “GrapeCo” and “Sierra Vista” brands.
Navel oranges are marketed under the “Barnfield,” “Hronis Ranch,” “Delano King,” “Hollywood & Vine” and “South Coast” brands.
Hronis services the retail sector from the central United States to the East Coast.
Hronis Inc. has a proud history of sustainable progress. “Hronis Inc. employs sustainable agricultural practices that successfully balance current and future human needs, promote environmental health and effectively utilize natural resources in a manner that is economically profitable,” the website states.
The facility includes numerous docks designed to accommodate fast loading to support four-hour turnaround time.
A top-of-the-line scale expedites turnaround and load adjustment for drivers. As a result, the company’s carbon footprint has been lowered.
