Houston Food Bank names new president and CEO
The Houston Food Bank, a private non-profit organization that fights hunger by providing food and other essentials to 400 hunger-relief programs in 18 southeast Texas counties, announced the hiring of Brian Greene as president and chief executive officer.
Mr. Greene, who arrived in Houston in September in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, was recruited for the position in August but delayed his move to Houston to ensure that all systems at the New Orleans food bank were securely relocated and operational. He transformed the Greater New Orleans Food Bank into the official Katrina Disaster Relief facility before assuming his new position in Houston.
A native of California, Mr. Greene previously served as executive director of the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee from 1988 to 1993, before moving to the Greater New Orleans Food Bank.
