Here comes the summer fruit. Start planning to see some outstanding California stone fruit this year. An ample supply of exquisite quality cherries, peaches, nectarines, apricots and plums is expected for ad promotions.

Bolthouse Farms is being separated into two standalone entities: Bolthouse Fresh Foods and Generous Brands. The former will carry on the century-old legacy of Bolthouse Farms as a leading supplier of fresh carrots to retailers across North America, with nearly 700 million pounds of carrots sold annually. Generous Brands will encompass the premium fresh beverage and salad dressing businesses of Bolthouse Farms and Evolution Fresh.

Overall strawberry quality is optimum out of all areas, and volume will continue to increase throughout May. Good color, size and texture are arriving at the coolers daily. Blueberry quality from all areas is excellent with Mexico, Georgia and Florida holding a slight edge in size and overall quality. Peru is beginning to see a decline in numbers coming very near to the end of their season.

Brighter Bites, a national nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands, has launched its first program season at its 12th location in Las Cruces, NM.

The 2024 IFPA Consumer Connection Conference was a success as retailers, marketers, influencers and foodservice professionals met to discuss opportunities to increase produce consumption. Opportunities for education and networking abounded at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in sunny Phoenix.
