North Bay Produce is an international cooperative comprising 31 grower-owners from North, Central and South America, dedicated to delivering fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year.

Originally established as an apple company, North Bay has its roots in apple cultivation, and apples continue to be an essential component of the extensive range of fresh produce grown in Michigan.

Who buys most of the organic produce? Why do they buy it? What’s the latest trend? Where are we headed?

These questions regularly come up for produce directors in sales meetings about their organic program. Other — more difficult — questions include why aren’t there more organic sales? Why is the gross profit so much lower? Why aren’t the sales percentages increasing? Why a higher shrink? And the cross-interrogation continues.

Since 2006, Nash Produce has established itself as a reliable packer and distributor of sweet potatoes, catering to major retailers and prominent foodservice companies.

With over 11,000 acres dedicated to sweet potatoes, Nash Produce exports its products to Mexico, Europe and Canada, fostering strong customer relationships across these markets.

As the calendar turned to February, the company was excited about what’s ahead.
