The Consumer Connection Conference, hosted by The Foundation for Fresh Produce, is a premier gathering for industry leaders who are passionate about increasing the consumption of fruit and vegetables. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has imposed sanctions on three produce businesses for failing to meet contractual obligations to the sellers of produce they purchased and failing to pay reparation awards issued under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act. These sanctions include suspending the businesses’ PACA licenses and barring the principal operators of the businesses from engaging in PACA-licensed business or other activities without approval from USDA.

The following businesses and individuals are currently restricted from operating in the produce industry:

Representatives from The United Family recently joined city officials and other community representatives to break ground for a new Albertsons Market grocery store and fuel station in the Lovington, NM, community. This will be the first United Family location in the market and is slated to open in 2026.

At its recent meeting in San Antonio, TX, the Mushroom Council welcomed two new board members — Chris Alonzo, Pietro Industries (Region 2) and Tony Stachurski, Kitchen Pride (Region 1) — and elected new officers for 2025. The nine-member council is composed of eight domestic growers and one importer representing four regions. The program’s purpose is to maintain and expand existing mushroom markets and uses.
