This time frame happens to coincide with the initial harvesting of Village Farms’ new local British Columbia-grown crop.

Although this move from one spot to another may sound simple, it is never just a stress-free routine. If a seasonal crop ends in one area and a new crop is supposed to pick up in another area, weather can step in and place a hold on the growth.

More than 2,700 attendees took part in this year's Viva Fresh Expo in Houston, which was held April 11-13. The large number of people in attendance was a record for the Texas International Produce Association's ninth annual event. With roughly 200 exhibiting companies on the trade show floor, the 425 retail and foodservice buyers present had plenty to keep them busy.
