Brighter Bites, a Houston, TX-based nonprofit providing under-resourced families with fresh produce and nutrition education, has received a $300,000 Empowering Health grant from UnitedHealthcare to expand its programming into San Antonio. This funding will help serve areas with high rates of food insecurity and diet-related diseases in the San Antonio area by providing fresh produce and comprehensive nutrition education to children and families.

Last fall grower-owned-and-operated Chelan Fresh embarked on a series of individual grower interviews, consumer feedback sessions and company core identity work. “As we went through the process, a story emerged that was distilled down to two simple words, transformative yet simple: Joyfully Grown” said Julie DeJarnatt, director of retail strategy, speaking of the genesis of the company’s new fall branding.

“We specialize in mangos and we have an onsite inspector who inspects every pallet for quality, condition, pressure, Brix and internal color,” said Eric Nagelberg, who handles imports and sales for the company.

The online platform will seamlessly integrate with their ERP and provide all Troia customers a faster, streamlined, and more reliable ordering and payments experience accessible on phone or computer.

Lidl and Avocados from Peru hosted a celebration Sept. 12 at the supermarket’s Merrifield, VA, location to present the keys of the AVO Tesla to Dr. José Jerónimo, a Maryland cancer specialist and the winner of the 2022 Summer Sweepstakes. Lidl also awarded Jerónimo a $500 gift card to use at any of its supermarket locations.
