Despite the supply chain woes and inflation, demand for melons remains good, especially for watermelons.  The key is to increase productivity without sacrificing quality. Customers are looking for solid partners that focus in delivering outstanding service and good quality products. 

Vick Family Farms expects some of the best quality sweet potatoes this year. “We see our quality is beautiful and the potatoes sized up very nicely despite the hot dry weather,” stated Charlotte Vick, partner and produce manager at Vick Family Farms in Wilson, NC. “Rain in late July was just in time to help push the crop along. What we have seen thus far it is probably some of the best quality we have seen in years with more consistent shape and size.”

The Avocados from Peru and Meijer 2022 AVO Tesla Summer Sweepstakes ended and an official winner has been announced. Meijer customers had the opportunity to learn about and enter the sweepstakes through the retailer’s in-store and out-of-store promotions.

Bard Valley Date Growers played host to buyers, importers, and other partners in the trade with their 2022 harvest tour. The two-day educational tour featured date harvesting, quality control, packing operations and innovative products.

JJB Family Farms' proprietary, California-grown Modi apple was recently released to California stores.  The exciting collection of sweet, tart, deep red- and a loud crunch was developed by Consorzio Italiano Vivaisti of Italy.  Following last year’s successful debut at selected grocery stores, the JJB Family Farms-licensed and proprietary variety returns to the California’s market from October through December in most of California’s leading grocery retailers.

The Northern Plains Potato Growers Association has been representing growers throughout northwest Minnesota and all of North Dakota for more than 75 years, advocating for more than 200 grower members and 250 associate members who mostly call the Red River Valley home.

The mission of the NPPGA is to promote profitability and unity of the potato growers of the two neighboring states through the development and promotion of quality potatoes and potato products.
