FirstFruits Farms is making big strides in the fresh produce industry with the construction of an advanced cherry production line at its facility in Prescott, WA.

The production line will feature some of the most advanced technology in the world offering total automation, resulting in the ability to provide customers with the highest quality fruit available. The new facility will continue to put FirstFruits Farms at the forefront of retail integration.

For G&R Farms, the Vidalia onion category is of the utmost importance as the company has grown into a third-generation, family farm based on consumers love for the product.

In 1948, Raymond and Rubye-Jean Bland began a 50-acre farm in rural Georgia. Following his father’s passion, Raymond’s son Delbert envisioned the company becoming the preeminent grower, packer and shipper of the renowned Vidalia Onion.

The Vidalia Onion Committee noted that the Vidalia season starts around the third week of April and ends in August, and people are gearing up for another exciting season. With Vidalia season starting mid-April, six weeks goes through Memorial Day as consumers get into the swing of summer grilling season and the habit of summer cooking.

The eigth annual Viva Fresh Open, presented by BEBO Distributing Inc. and H-E-B, tees off on March 30. This year’s tournament promises the top-notch experience Viva Fresh is known for: a stellar course, the same great networking and the ability to back a great cause by raising funds to support the Viva Fresh mission of increasing the awareness of the health benefits of fruits and vegetables produced in the Tex-Mex corridor.
 

Dan Branson, senior director of business and product development at Mucci Farms, died suddenly on Saturday, March 11. He was 57.

Mr. Branson joined Mucci in August 2021 after a long career in the produce industry, most notably with Loblaw Cos.
