The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers Inc. announces its selections for the 2023 Cut Flowers of the Year. These varieties are chosen by the ASCFG’s members on their ease of culture, productivity andmarketability.

To-Jo Mushrooms, a grower, packer, shipper and processor of fresh mushrooms, based in Avondale, PA, is seeing a return to normal with mushroom sales patterns, according to Kevin Delaney, vice president of sales and marketing.

“Summer time is actually a traditionally slower period for mushroom sales,” said Delaney. “The last few years, with the pandemic and immediately after, some of the patterns were thrown off, so we’re trying to find a new balance.”

Frank Donio Inc. is celebrating 90 years and the Hammonton, NJ-based company continues to thrive.

“I’m incredibly honored to be part of my family’s legacy,” said Annie Pape, a fourth-generation family member of the company. “I get to continue on a path set by generations of hard work and entrepreneurial spirit alongside my mom, uncle, cousins and brother-in-law and that’s a uniquely special experience that gives so much meaning to the work that we do.”

For the second time LG Herndon Jr. Farms has partnered with the Gary Sinise Foundation for Vidalia onion season. This partnership will have two cycles during the 2023 Vidalia onion season where onions will be shipped with special co-branded packaging that highlights the work of the foundation, the Memorial Day Promotion and the July Fourth Promotion.

A bountiful summer of California strawberries is ahead for California Giant Berry Farms as the company forecasts giant volumes of the company’s cornerstone product. The berry purveyor’s high yields and forecast for excellent quality fruit come following a later-than-average start for some of its growing regions — but despite this, the company is on track to deliver peak promotable volumes of California strawberries.

Andrew Iacobucci, senior executive vice president, field operations and chief commercial officer is leaving US Foods. He served as the company’s interim CEO in 2022 prior to Dave Flitman filling the permanent CEO position in January 2023.
