HBF International announces new leadership roles
Leading produce supplier HBF International announced that owners Doug Perkins and Mark Hurst will be expanding their responsibilities with an eye toward future expansion and opportunities within the industry.
Perkins is now chief executive officer of HBF International, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company. He formerly served as managing director and director of export sales.
Hurst is taking on the role of international research and development director, overseeing projects designed to enhance the HBF product line and planning operations for the future. Hurst's areas of focus are genetics, information technology, facilities and new products.
In addition, Hurst will continue running the day-to-day growing operations of Hurst's Berry Farm and Hurst's Berry Mexico.
These new roles were announced to the HBF management team at a company planning meeting that took place in November.
Perkins and Hurst became partners in 2011 and established HBF International as a new sales and packing organization to better represent their worldwide grower base.
HBF International, which is based in McMinnville, OR, packs and sells a wide selection of the freshest berries, including blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. The company represents several different varieties that ripen at different times on farms in Oregon, Washington, California, Mexico, Argentina and Chile allowing them to be a year-round source for fresh berries.
