Ocean Mist Farms unveiled its newly rebranded Roastables line at the International Fresh Produce Association Global Produce & Floral Show in Anaheim, CA, last month.

National Retail Solutions announced today that independent retailers in its nationwide point-of-sale network can now offer their customers remote ordering for delivery or in-store pick-up via the Grubhub app.

Katz, president and CEO of NRS.  “This partnership empowers our NRS retailers, which are predominantly neighborhood convenience stores and bodegas, to compete effectively and efficiently in the rapidly expanding digital channel.”

Among negative economic headlines, there is good news for grocery retailers. Data from January through March of this year shows a 2.3 percent volume increase in the U.S. potato retail sector, with 81 percent of Americans reporting they eat at least one serving of potatoes a week.

The watermelon category has added 7 million new purchasing households since 2021, with watermelon now in 75 percent of all U.S. households. These new buyers helped generate $782 million in incremental purchases, pushing total category purchases to $3.2 billion — a 33 percent increase over the period. 

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is championing its Fresh From Florida retail program this fall, continuing its long-standing effort to connect consumers with the state’s agricultural bounty. 

The well-recognized blue and yellow label identifies food that is grown, raised, harvested or produced in Florida, and with that label comes the promise of fresher flavor, higher nutritional value and strong support for Florida’s farming community.
