Colour Republic has appointed Dawn Burrell to the position of chief commercial officer to lead the sales team while accelerating the company’s high-value strategic partnerships. Burrell joined Colour Republic in the Fall of 2014 and has been supporting the company’s year over year double-digit growth since she joined. Burrell is committed to improving the omnichannel floral experience for customers and suppliers. She reports to Remi Davalos, Colour Republic’s president & co-founder.

More than 125 businesses registered to take part in Seed Your Future’s inaugural Green Career Week, held Oct. 3 to 7, 2022. The event

gave professionals in the floriculture and horticulture industries an opportunity to speak to students about careers in their field and plant seeds for a budding new workforce. Participants talked with students at their schools or invited them to visit their business and promoted careers on social media throughout the week. 

Expo Flor Ecuador held their bi-annual floral show Oct. 5-7 at the Metropolitan Convention Center in in Quito, Ecuador. The event had over 2,000 attendees, breaking the 2018 record of 1,620. The show hosted 106 floral growers, 105 exhibits and buyers visiting from over 42 countries. 

Sahid Nahim from New Bloom Solutions is always looking for innovation and a fresh perspective on the floral industry. He found just that at a special charity event celebrating flowers and fashion. Fleur-aissance event was the brainchild of Luz Flora at Royal Flowers. It was in collaboration with ReOrgYou, Inc. and D’Marsh Couture, and all proceeds from the event were donated to the Joshua Heart Foundation, a Miami-based non-profit fighting hunger and poverty.

Not just in growing practices, service, logistics and marketing but throughout every nuance of the company. As part of this mission, in a floral industry first, Del Alma has gone plastic neutral. 

Aris Horticulture's Fort Myers, FL, farms were impacted by Hurricane Ian. Aris employees are reporting in, confirming their safety, and returning to work. Both the Alva and Live Oak farms have incurred some facility damage, primarily to the poly roof coverings for greenhouses and field saran. There is no major structural damage. Coolers, buildings and equipment received are operating via emergency power generators until Florida Power & Electric restores power.
