Syngenta Flowers Senior Breeder Todd Perkins received the 2023 Medal of Excellence Industry Achievement Award. The Industry Achievement Award recognizes the lifetime accomplishments of individuals and organizations that have devoted their life’s work to the mission of advancing plant varieties and the floriculture industry.

Over 100 participants from 11 different countries traveled to Stoke by Nyland near Colchester, United Kingdom, to attend the 52nd Fleuroselect Convention from July 3 - 6. The convention is the key annual event for members to spend time networking with industry friends and colleagues as well as visiting member facilities, plant trials and local horticultural highlights.

 The Perennial Plant Association has announce the 2024 Perennial Plant of the Year, Jeana (Phlox paniculata). Perennials chosen for the Plant of the Year are suitable for a wide range of growing climates, require low maintenance, have multiple-season interest and are relatively pest/disease-free. Jeana is tall, dense, domed trusses crown stiff stems from midsummer to early fall. Individually, the fragrant lavender-pink flowers are significantly smaller than typical garden phlox, about half an inch wide,
 

PanAmerican Seed is proud to accept the 2023 Greenhouse Grower Medal of Excellence Industry’s Choice Award for its new Caliburst Yellow Petchoa – the first petchoa from seed! Industry’s Choice is determined by a panel of experts from across the horticulture industry, who reviewed hundreds of new varieties while traveling to California Spring Trials. They collectively selected six finalists for the award, and ultimately awarded Caliburst the win.

The new location for the four-day FlowerTrial 2023 was located at Kwekerij Bloem en Tuin in de Lier/NL was well accepted. 

As it warms up in the Northern Hemisphere, Emirates SkyCargo is scaling up its cool chain capacity for perishables, preparing for a busy summer season of weddings and outdoor events. As the demand for decorative floral arrangements increases, May 2023 saw Emirates SkyCargo transport 3,590 tonnes of time- and temperature-sensitive fresh cut flowers, a 20 percent rise from the same period last year.
