Wegmans Food Markets announced that the Wegmans Employee Scholarship Program will award college tuition assistance to more than 1,500 new recipients for the upcoming academic year. The company expects to pay out about $5.8 million in tuition assistance to both new and returning scholarship recipients during the 2026-2027 school year.

Since the program began in 1984, more than 49,500 Wegmans employees have been awarded scholarships totaling $155 million.

Village Super Market celebrated the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation at the ShopRite of Livingston with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 18, highlighted by a $5,000 donation to the West Essex YMCA and a weekend of community festivities. The Vineland Cooperative Produce Auction is off to a strong start in 2026, beginning its 95th season with steady demand, expanded product offerings and growers continuing to adapt to changing market conditions.

“This year’s auction began two weeks earlier,” said Carol DeFoor, office manager for the entity. “The start date is always largely dependent on the weather.”

The season opened with a broad assortment of spring vegetables and greens.

In 1995, John Williams started Harvest Limited in Athi River, Kenya, pioneering spray roses and introducing them to the European market.

It has taken some decades, but today, more and more spray varieties survive the first few days in the vase, and all rose breeders have sprays in their breeding programs. The spray rose is following in the footsteps of the spray carnation, with hundreds of hectares of production, increasing daily.
