E. Armata makes another forward move with new potato and onion program
The focus at E. Armata, located on the Hunts Point Terminal Market, is to provide the highest quality, freshest produce possible. Following the completion of the renovation of its facility from the ground-up, including its warehouses, salesroom and corporate offices with the latest technology, equipment and processes, the company has received a strong and positive response.
Chris Armata, company president, and third-generation family member, said the company is better able to service growers, shippers and customers alike.
“We work with top growers and shippers, always building and protecting our long-term relationships,” said Armata. “To ensure the best quality control and safest produce possible, we maintain our GMP and HACCP certifications. And we follow through with an excellent operations, sales and service staff.”
As E. Armata’s business continues to grow, it has looked to service its customers even better by expanding its product base. The company’s berry program, for example, is in full swing with year-round supplies.
“This year we are happy to announce the launch of our new potato and onion department, as well as a new eastern peach program from South Carolina,” said Armata. “These programs included commitments to new grower-shippers, and an increased staff of buyers, salesman and warehousemen to service this growth.”
The company has also expanded its carrot program, adding to the jumbos from California. Imported carrots from Israel are also now being shipped. A full line of retail and foodservice carrots are available at E. Armata.
Armata said the import business has given the company an opportunity to handle new items and fill-in with year-round supplies.
Armata’s brother, Paul Armata, serves as vice president and secretary. He said the company focuses on developing strong and steady working relationships with its customers.
“And we build on this by buying the best product, maintaining it in the best conditions and supplying a quality product customers can always count on,” said Paul Armata.
“From the start of E. Armata over 100 years ago to today, and now with our fourth generation, we’ve grown with a vision for the future,” he continued. “Family is a very important part of this business, and this includes our team of employees; our buyers, sellers, warehousemen and other staff members who are a key part of our family team.”
“We are looking toward the future by building on and protecting the strong relationships we have established over four generations, at the same time creating new partnerships with shippers and continually growing our customer base,” added Chris Armata.
