This season’s apricot harvest is ahead of schedule, according to Columbia Marketing International.The company reported that the 2014 crop is very strong as a result of a long spell of exceptional weather, which produced apricots that are sweet, juicy and flavorful.

PATERSON, NJ — The Eastern Produce Council held its final dinner-meeting Tuesday evening, June 24, here at The Brownstone, before taking a little time off for its traditional summer break. Earthbound Farm and House Foods co-sponsored the meeting, which was originally scheduled to take place this past winter but had to be canceled due to bad weather.

Summer has just begun and there is still more planning and preparation needed to ready the new crop of Washington apples for the fall harvest. Trees around the state are covered with an abundance of apples. The official estimate will not be announced until Aug.
