Dine & Design show kicks off holidays
MINNEAPOLIS — The 2014 Dine & Design Holiday Show was held at Kennicott Bros. Co., here, Oct. 8 and Maureen Mc-Kiernan, branch manager, told The Produce News that over 150 people attended, representing 64 floral shops. Vendors included Smithers Oasis, Syndicate Sales and AMC.
“It was great to get so many of our customers to come in,” said McKiernan. “Many had never been to our new facility and they seemed excited to be here.”
Red Kennicott, chief executive officer of the company, even flew in from Chicago for the event. “This was the first time that Red had been to our new location. It was a wonderful opportunity for our customers to meet him, and he also enjoys meeting and talking with them,” McKiernan said. “We have a lot of new employees and it was great they got to meet the leader of our company.”
The show’s designer, Ron Johnson, owner and operator of three floral shops in Springfield, MO, revealed the latest in seasonal floral arrangements and holiday design tips. A 35-year veteran of professional floral design, Johnson’s creations have been featured in Florist Review magazine and other trade publications.
Attendees learned about the newest holiday trends, enjoyed fine dining, and networked with industry experts.
“The people really seemed to enjoy the designer and they were totally engaged in what he was saying,” said McKiernan. “After it was over, they went and bought the things he had talked about.”
Several other Kennicott locations in the Midwest also hosted Dine & Design Holiday Shows in October in order to give customers a jumpstart on the upcoming holidays.
