As the first to load South African plums headed for North America after eight years in 2022, Oppy plans to continue energizing the category with a successful season two.

The opportunity emerged when U.S. authorities tightened 2021 Chilean plum import regulations following pest detection — Oppy advised its retail partners to substitute with fruit from South Africa where it had recently enlisted Sila Louw to manage its operations.

Titan Farms has a new partnership with Verdant Technologies to bring the HarvestHold Fresh post-harvest solution to the peach industry. With more than 6,000 acres, Titan Farms is the country's second-largest vertically integrated peach operation. Through rigorous testing, the company plans to utilize HarvestHold Fresh to extend the quality, freshness and flavor of its peaches from harvest to consumption.

Pacific Trellis Fruit, a year-round grower, shipper and marketer of premium fresh fruit, unveiled four new imported specialty plum varieties. The company is gearing up for the high-flavor arrivals from Chile and South Africa beginning next month. The plums will be unveiled in two-pound clamshells under the premium Dulcinea brand. The new high-graphic labels will pop on display and will be sure to create some eye-catching attention.

An eruption of color will arrive in the first few weeks of 2023 with lemon plums brought to market by Oppy for the 10th season.
Oppy is starting off the plum season with this specialty item the first week of February through mid-March. Limited volumes will arrive on the East Coast for a select niche market.

As one of the largest cherry importers, Pacific Trellis Fruit is eager for the upcoming import cherry season. “With increased volumes of cherries arriving in the U.S. from Chile and Argentina, we are looking forward to increased opportunities to work with our customers in promoting cherries well into March," said Marcial Hernandez, director of imported fruit.

For the eighth year, Titan Farms and Harris Teeter joined forces and donated peaches to Second Harvest Food Banks in Raleigh and Charlotte, NC. This year’s donation was especially impactful to local communities, with 76,000 pounds of peaches donated to local food banks — more than double last year’s donation.
