By meeting challenges of the past year head-on through flexibility and forging ahead into the 2021 Idaho potato season with an innovative and focused marketing strategy, the Idaho Potato Commission anticipates continued growth in retail and is hopeful for an uptick in foodservice.

After a one year hiatus, the Idaho Grower Shippers Association held its 93rd annual convention in Sun Valley, ID, Sept. 1-3.

The event featured a program of top-notch business speakers, social functions and recreational events, including a UTV side-by-side ride into the Sun Valley back country, a guided hike, bowling, horseshoes, trap shooting and a golf tournament.

Among the highlights were the tribute paid to retiring Idaho Potato Commission CEO Frank Muir and the always-popular Railroad Reception.

With a continuing focus on regional retail, Fagerberg Farms/Fagerberg Produce in Eaton, CO, kicked off the 2021 onion shipping season with its full slate of conventional varieties on Aug. 16, with organics to follow in September.
