As a fifth-generation-owned family farm, Mother Earth has a long legacy in organic mushrooms that has earned the company a great deal of respect.

Today, Mother Earth manages 53 growing houses throughout southern Chester County in West Grove, Oxford and Landenberg, PA, and has built a robust legacy in the organic mushroom industry. 

In 2022, the company saw success on many levels and enter 2023 in a good frame of mind.  

Although organic produce has been increasing in sales for more than a decade, ever since the pandemic, the numbers have grown even stronger as more people associated organic with being healthier and safer.

United Natural Foods Inc. expanded its Wild Harvest private label organic produce line with more than 40 new offerings available nationwide. Since its 2022 launch, the Wild Harvest organic produce line has enjoyed significant growth as consumers have come to rely on the brand for their eating occasions.

Organic fresh produce sales grew by 3 percent in 2022, while volume declined by 3.7 percent, as total sales topped $9.4 billion for the year, according to the 2022 Organic Produce Performance Report released by Organic Produce Network and Category Partners.

Sprouts Farmers Market launched its Rescued Organics program in all 130 stores in California. The program reduces food waste and supports local farmers by bringing to market imperfect organic produce that would typically be discarded due to imperfections that do not affect quality.

Rescued Organic produce may be misshapen, under or over-sized or slightly off color, but has the same great taste, nutrients and amazing quality as other Sprouts produce. The program also makes organic produce more accessible because it is offered at a reduced price.

Homegrown Organic Farms is set to launch a new YouTube series, GROWN by, on Friday, Jan. 6 at 9 p.m. EST. The GROWN by series follows four of the company’s farmers through their growing and harvest seasons, providing both education and entertainment along the way. The series features the Peterson family, Agustin Cardenas, France Ranch and Pipco Fruit Co.
