Pairwise, a food startup, launched its inaugural product, Conscious Greens, under its Conscious Foods brand. The product was developed with CRISPR gene-editing technology. The company's Purple Power Baby Greens Blend is a mix of colorful Superfood leafy greens with a unique, fresh flavor and up to double the amount of vitamins and minerals as Romaine.

When consumers do their current grocery shopping, they may be taken aback when seeing the lettuce prices. After all they do not know anything about the markets and how prices are established based on crops.

Meijer, in conjunction with its supplier, Revolution Farms, is recalling select Fresh From Meijer premade salads because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

This is part of a broader Revolution Farms lettuce recall and includes premade salads carried at Meijer stores in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin. Meijer is not aware of any illnesses from Meijer brand salad products included in this recall.

The California Leafy Green Marketing Agreement has been bringing farmers together to make lettuce and leafy greens safer for 17 years. At a meeting on Thursday, March 30, the California LGMA appointed its new advisory board, which will serve for the next two years, and elected new board leadership.

The newly elected board leadership includes Jan Berk of San Miguel Produce as chair; Matt Amaral of D’Arrigo Bros. of California as vice chair and Chris Drew of Ocean Mist farms as secretary-treasurer.

Tops said its partnership with Little Leaf Farms affords the company peace of mind since the grower's lettuces are rooted in sustainability. 

Little Leaf's greenhouses are also centrally located throughout the Northeast, allowing the retailer to cut down on its fuel emissions during transportation from the greenhouse to the Tops warehouse.

The Kroger Co. and Gotham Greens are bringing greenhouse-grown produce and fresh, plant-based foods to more customers across the country. Kroger customers can find Gotham Greens' produce in more than 300 stores today, with plans to expand to nearly 1,000 stores by the end of 2023. In addition to produce, the expansion of Gotham Greens' plant-based dips, cooking sauces and dressings will put the supplier in nearly 2,000 Kroger locations across the country.
