Sun World International LLC has appointed Michele Melillo to the new position of vice president of grower support services. Melillo recently managed the company’s agronomic support activities. Anthony Vineyards’ California grape season began in July out of the San Joaquin Valley, but things are really expected to really kick into high gear over the next few weeks.

“We’re getting into the meat and potatoes of the grape season here, in August and September,” said Rob Spinelli, who works in sales for Anthony Vineyards, which grows grapes in the Coachella Valley and in Bakersfield, CA, where it’s headquartered.

Grapes from California performed strongly during the last year, and the California Table Grape Commission is doing its part to ensure that big sales continue and grapes stay top-of-mind for consumers.

Jeff Cardinale, vice president communications for the Commission, noted a multifaceted campaign promoting California grapes is currently being implemented in 19 countries representing 94 percent of all exports last season.
