There’s a lot of energy and excitement this time of year as table grape season ramps up in California. In 2021 California grape growers harvested more than 97 million boxes of table grapes — an estimated crop value of $2.1 billion — per the California Table Grape Commission. Furthermore, those numbers represent 99 percent of all commercially grown grapes in the United States.

In recent seasons, Divine Flavor and its growing locations at Grupo ALTA have been converting all their operations into centralized packing facilities. As the company has grown into one of the largest suppliers of Mexican table grapes, these additions to its infrastructure have immediately contributed to its ability to pack multiple presentations for various clients at the same time.

Divine Flavor finished off its Jalisco table grape deal in early May and was just beginning to harvest its Sonoran vineyards as May finished its second week.

This summer, Mountain View Fruit Sales will bring to market a premium grape program led by industry veteran George Matoian, who will be join the company as the director of its grape division.

Fresh Farms continues its growth pattern with the recent addition of John Senn as sales associate. Senn will be working in the Kingsburg, CA, offices. He will represent the company’s grape, vegetable and melon categories, which Fresh Farms is now offering year-round.

Four Star Fruit Inc. expects strong volume to supply this year’s Mexican table grape season.  Each year Four Star Fruit boasts year-over-year volume growth, and this year the company is expecting volume growth to be 25-30 percent higher due to its robust Mexican grape program.

Harvest has begun this week and volume will continue to ramp up as the summer months progress, projecting good yield and great quality into late summer.
