Homegrown Organic Farms’ long history began with organic citrus products a quarter of a century ago. That’s when John and Cindy France began their organic efforts, inspired by their belief that there had to be a better alternative to growing practices that affected soil and killed beneficial insects.

IMG Citrus, a leading grower and marketer of Florida grapefruit, controls over 70 percent of Florida’s fresh grapefruit production. This week, IMG Citrus announced the launch of a new Florida grapefruit brand and specialty product, YELLOS. Golden like the sun and known for adorning the very first citrus groves in the state of Florida, YELLOS is positioned as Florida’s best-kept secret that boasts consistently sweet taste and a unique experience for the consumer.

This past February Texas was in a deep freeze. The impact is still being felt as the state is now looking at a reduced grapefruit crop. The crop, which usually begins harvest in late September, early October, is now about a month behind. It is not all bad news, however, as some Texas grower-shippers are reporting that the fruit is a little larger than usual.

Fruit World, a family-owned, flavor-focused grower-shipper of organic and conventional fruit, expects a robust citrus season, particularly for this year’s organic lemon crop. Promotable volumes of organic lemons from California’s desert region are anticipated through early March. Fruit World will also offer a diverse citrus program throughout the season, including organic and conventional mandarins, organic oranges, and organic specialty citrus such as sweet limes and Minneola tangelos.

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to alter traditional produce practices, Sunkist Growers has focused its efforts on maintaining those all-important business relationships.

While other parts of the country embrace fall's cooler temperatures and watch the leaves change colors, Progressive Produce is entering its prime growing season for its extensive California-grown citrus program, which includes organic navels, lemons, and grapefruit.
