Gladstone Land Corp. has acquired approximately 1,670 total acres of farmland and facilities located San Joaquin County, CA, and Whatcom County, WA. The acquisition includes approximately 1,390 planted acres of organic and conventional blueberries, as well as a fresh packing and cooling facility. In connection with the acquisition, Gladstone Land entered into a 10-year, triple-net leaseback agreement with the seller.

Longtime berry industry executive Felipe Juillerat is joining global fresh fruit company Terra Exports' advisory board. Juillerat, best known for his prior role as chief commercial officer for Hortifrut, will assume a general advisory role on the board starting in January 2021.

Wish Farms, is adding acreage to its Florida strawberry farm operation.

Founded in 1987, G&D Farms is named as a tribute to the original founders of the company, Gershon and Daniel. Before the land addition, it was already widely considered to be the largest contiguous strawberry farm in the world.

Meridian Fine Foods, a grower-packer-shipper of conventional and organic berries marketed in a variety of packs and sizes under the FreshKampo label, is launching a new strawberry program out of Mexico that is expected to yield more than 1.5 million cases of fruit and help meet high consumer demand during an important promotional period.

Southern California-based Gourmet Trading Company transitioned its year-round production of blueberries to Chile in November, starting with organics just before the month dawned and adding the conventional blueberry SKUs by the middle of the month.

Luciano Fiszman, blueberry category manager for the two-commodity organization (asparagus being the other), explained that the company’s blueberry rotation transitioned from Mexico to Peru in the summer and now on to Chile.

Magic Sun, well known as a leading grower of conventional and organic tomatoes, has taken its agricultural expertise to a new commodity and expanded its product line to include blueberries.  Grown in the Mexican region of Jalisco, there are approximately 52 acres of blueberries planted across three varieties: Biloxi, Jupiter and Atlas, which offer medium to jumbo-sized berries with great taste and performance that are popular with consumers.
