Applewood Fresh, a premier produce brand and fourth-generation grower-packer-shipper-marketer of Michigan-grown apples is counting down the days to the start of its flavorful harvest, with Rave and SweeTango leading the way.

Rave brand MN55 cultivar apples are back in season and with that not only comes high-quality, outrageously juicy apples, but another exciting consumer-facing digital campaign designed to help consumers win gold.

Apple orchards in the Northeast emerged from a long winter with no significant damage and a strong bloom, which has laid the foundation for an excellent crop across virtually all eastern varieties.

Brett Baker, corporate vice president and co-owner of United Apple Sales and a third-generation apple grower in western New York, indicated that the companyy is excited about a very strong crop after last year’s season that experienced some stress from drought.

Back in the early days of D’Arrigo New York, based in the Hunts Point Terminal Market in the Bronx, eastern apples were the only apples the company took, although as it increased into a powerhouse distributor, it expanded into apples from all over.

“The southeast and northeast were where most of our apples came from for quite some time,” said Gabriela D’Arrigo, vice president of marketing for the company. “It’s something that we are very familiar with, something we’ve long supported and something that has long supported us.”

Forrence Orchards, which first started growing apples in 1833, grows anywhere from 500,000 to 700,000 bushels of apples a year.

Crunch Time Apple Growers, a cooperative of 152 growers throughout New York State based in Lockport, NY, is entirely focused on growing and marketing two apples — SnapDragon and RubyFrost.
