Apples are the backbone of Superfresh Growers and have been a part of its five generations of growing since the late 1800s when the company first started farming apples and pears in Washington's Yakima Valley.

“Apples make up the biggest percentage of our overall profile spanning organic and conventional apples, pears, cherries, apricot, kiwi berries and blueberries,” said Catherine Gipe-Stewart, communications manager for the Yakima, WA-based company. “Superfresh Growers grows about 20 to 25 percent of our apples as organic, depending on the variety.”

Since the inception of the company in 1989, CMI Orchards has become one of the largest fruit growers in Washington State.

While multiple apple growers have been involved with organics since the late 80s and early 90s, Chelan Fresh was one of the first and has enjoyed success in the organic category.

Apples are the largest commodity segment at Starr Ranch Growers. While the company grows and provides a variety of other fruits within the marketplace — pears, stonefruit and cherries — team members think of apples as its “hero” fruit and the bulk of its business.

Stemilt Growers knows apples are a staple in the produce department all year long. As growers, packers and marketers of apples, the company is able to supply stores with this great fruit and employ people for year-round operations.

Rockit Apple, a miniature-sized apple grown for on-the-go snacking, is partnering with Instagram sensation The Tiny Chef, a 6.5-inch-tall herbivore that creates tiny dishes. Together they are helping to spread the word about the world’s first tiny apple.

Tiny Chef became fast friends with notable celebrities like Kristen Bell and boasts an international Instagram following of more than 600,000 fans. As a winner of two 2021 Webby Awards, The Tiny Chef has won the hearts of people around the world with his endearing voice and tiny culinary creations.
