The New York Apple Association is celebrating the fall by reminding consumers that apple pie made with freshly picked apples are the new go to pie for Thanksgiving this year. 

To add to that excitement, NYAA is offering consumers a chance to win an Apple Pie Kit, which will include a bright red Emile Henry ceramic ruffled pie dish, ApplesfromNY rolling pin, apple slicer and a gift box of New York apples. 

The RubyFrost apple will soon be available in select produce aisles just in time for family gatherings over the holiday season. The premium variety is grown by Crunch Time Apple Growers, a group of more than 150 New York state-based growers. Crunch Time also grows the official apple of the Buffalo Bills, SnapDragon.

Last year, RubyFrost held its own, with strong growth at several of the top retailers; and the same is expected this year.

There’s room to keep growing Stemilt’s Artisan Organics brand promise to produce organic fruit that delights consumers. Stemilt Marketing Director Brianna Shales said the company partners with Apeel to improve the consumer experience with crisper apples.

Nutrition is an important part of the New York Apple Association’s message about apples. Kelly Springer, registered dietitian and spokesperson for the organization, is reaching out to consumers through television and social media to spread the word that New York apples are a healthy and delicious snack. 

JJB Family Farms' proprietary, California-grown Modi apple was recently released to California stores.  The exciting collection of sweet, tart, deep red- and a loud crunch was developed by Consorzio Italiano Vivaisti of Italy.  Following last year’s successful debut at selected grocery stores, the JJB Family Farms-licensed and proprietary variety returns to the California’s market from October through December in most of California’s leading grocery retailers.
