Hudson River Fruit Distributors, a leading East Coast apple grower-marketer, will open a new state-of-the-art production, packing and warehouse facility this spring, which will position the company for further growth.

The Wonderful Company, one of the largest and most philanthropic privately held companies in the United States, announced the latest recipients of its Central Valley Community Grants program.

Legend Produce, a leading importer and domestic producer of melons for more than 25 years, is partnering with premier Honduran grower-exporter Agrolibano and Yuma, AZ-based Kiss Melons to launch a winter specialty melon program.

Beginning in February and running through May, the program will deliver Sugar Kiss (orange-flesh) and Summer Kiss (green-flesh) melons grown in the prime melon regions of southern Honduras. 

Steve Young has rejoined Oppy as director of Canadian sales. In this role, Young will lead Oppy’s Canadian sales team with a focus on strategic growth, program expansion and strong alignment across sales, marketing and category teams.

The 2025 season for SweeTango apples was shaped by extreme drought across all of Next Big Thing’s growing regions, but despite the smaller sizing, the eating experience remained exceptional. 

“The SweeTango was amazing in taste and availability, but small,” said Jennifer Miller, executive director of Next Big Thing. For 2026, she noted that fruit will remain available into mid-June or July, offering retailers a longer runway than in previous years.

Amazon will be closing its Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh physical stores, converting various locations into Whole Foods Market stores and planning to invest in opening more than 100 new Whole Foods Market stores. The company said it failed to create a distinctive customer experience with the right economic model needed for large-scale expansion.
