CAC names new marketing director
The California Avocado Commission in Irvine, CA, has appointed Stacy Jaffa as its new marketing director with responsibility for leading the organization's strategy to promote California and Hass avocados in the U.S. marketplace.
"Stacy is the perfect leader for us in this white-hot competitive market," said Mark Affleck, CAC president and chief executive officer. "She will play a key role in our quest to create value for all stakeholders in the avocado category."
Ms. Jaffa will develop marketing programs across a welter of functions including spanning the interests and utilities of consumers, the trade, foodservice, on-line, public relations and nutrition. She joins the commission as it responds to unprecedented category growth from 500 million pounds five years ago to over 1 billion pounds in 2006.
"It was the magnitude of our challenge in the category that brought us to Stacy," said CAC Vice President Jan DeLyser. "She assumes her position at a very challenging time, and I'm excited to have someone with her background and character on our team."
Immediately prior to joining CAC, Ms. Jaffa was with Paramount Farms, where she developed and executed brand-marketing programs for both consumer and trade targets. Her responsibilities included management of advertising, promotions, public relations and on-line marketing.
She brings to CAC more than 10 years of experience as a senior marketing and communications executive with national and regional companies. She earned a master's degree in communications management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in English from William Smith College in New York.
