Bob McDougall, founding partner of CMI, dies at 87
Robert (Bob) Duncan McDougall, a longtime veteran of the Northwest fruit industry and a founding partner of Columbia Marketing International, died Feb. 6 in Mesa, AZ. He was 87 years old.
Mr. McDougall was a lifelong resident of Wenatchee Valley and had a 60-year career in the fruit industry. He formed McDougall Orchards Inc. in 1960 and joined with his sons, Stuart and Scott, to form McDougall & Sons Inc. in 1977, where he served as its president until his retirement in 1998. In 1989, he was one of the four founding partners of Columbia Marketing International.
Mr. McDougall remained an active partner with his sons in an orchard north of Orondo called New Northview Orchard Partnership. He served in the Washington State House of Representatives from 1960 to 1968, his second term as assistant Majority Leader, and was then elected to the Washington State Senate for a four-year term as Minority Whip.
Mr. McDougall is survived by his wife, Doris McDougall of East Wenatchee; his sons, Douglas McDougall of Redmond, Stuart McDougall of Wenatchee and Scott McDougall of East Wenatchee; and his stepchildren, Denice Frasu and Leonard Anderson, both of East Wenatchee.
A celebration of life reception in honor of Mr. McDougall will be held Feb. 24 at the Wenatchee Country Club in East Wenatchee, WA.
