The Northland Potato Growers Association has been promoting the profitability and unity of the potato growers of the adjoining states of Minnesota and North Dakota since its formation almost eight decades ago.

Comprising of more than 250 growers and shippers across the Red River Valley, one of the most fertile farming regions in the world where potatoes are grown on 72,000 acres in North Dakota and 8,800 acres in Minnesota, Northland Potatoes has long acted in the best interest of its grower members.

Hall’s, located in Hoople, ND, is a fourth-generation family farm with a rich tradition of potato cultivation in the Red River Valley. Specializing in fresh potatoes for both retail and foodservice, the company packages its products in various sizes, including poly bags, cartons, 50-pound bags and totes for repackagers.

NoKota Packers Inc., which is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, is a full-service potato shed which stores, washes and ship potatoes throughout the United States and Canada.

O.C. Schulz & Sons has been growing, packing and shipping potatoes in the Red River Valley for more than five decades.

David Moquist, a partner in the Crystal, ND-based family-owned company, believes the history and uniqueness of the Red River Valley has helped the company stay on top for so long.

Halls G4 LLP grows red and yellow potatoes for the fresh market, and also runs its own washplant and packinghouse, where it takes care of washing, sizing and grading the potatoes into consumer packs (3-pound to 20-pound packages), food service packs (50-pound bags and cartons) and totes for repackers.

With a recent change in leadership, the Northland Potato Growers Association (NPGA)’s new executive director, Gary Shields, is dedicated to building a strong collaborative relationship with all grower members.
