This year is shaping up to be a good one for California table grapes according to Sunview Marketing International. Sunview, headquartered in Delano, CA, has been growing premium quality table grapes in the central valley for more than 70 years.

Known for premium potatoes and table grapes cultivated from the California heartland, Top Brass Marketing is excited about its summer season of crops. “Our California central valley grape season kicked off in July and we are really excited about this year,” said Brett Dixon, president of Bakersfield, CA-based Top Brass.

The fireworks have flown, baseball is at its halfway point and mid-July means the start of the California table grape season. Jared Lane, vice president of sales at Grapeman Farms and his team are excited to kick off the domestic operation.

“We began picking right after the 4th of July holiday, starting with a couple different varieties — we will ramp up more and more over the coming weeks, getting into our peak production in August,” said Lane.

Fowler Packing’s branded Samsons table grapes are primed to kickoff Fowler’s 60th season packing and selling California table grapes. Sean Nelsen, vice president of sales and marketing for the Fresno, CA-based grower-shipper, believes success in the produce industry all comes down to consistency.

July signals the start of grape season for California’s central valley, where industry experts are seeing a promotable, high quality, stable crop, similar to 2021 in volume. April’s initial crop estimate forecast 95 million, 19-pound boxes.

Wild River Fruit expanded its certified organic gold kiwifruit program. The third-generation company’s first block of gold kiwi was certified organic in 2018, but its limited volume has quickly sold out in recent seasons. This year, Wild River has completed a successful transition of additional maturing acreage and expects to be offering a season-long program as a complement to its organic green kiwifruit program, from October through the winter.
