​Ark Foods — the modern-day farming company bringing unique vegetables and vegetable-based creations to the produce aisle — debuted its Clean Label Salad line at the Produce Marketing Association’s FreshSummit virtual trade show last week.

The Quebec Produce Marketing Association is taking the lead in the pan-Canadian philanthropy effort initiated by the Canadian Produce Marketing Association by recognizing the efforts of essential workers across Quebec who’ve been courageously on the front lines with unwavering dedication since day one of the pandemic.

As a gesture of thanks, some 500 fruit and vegetable baskets were handed out to volunteers in a number of Quebec community-based organizations Oct. 16 as part of World Food Day celebrations.

Rinaudo’s firm, Zipline International LLC, created a system using drones in Rwanda to deliver blood to remote hospitals and health centers to save the lives of people in an emergency situation. He noted that initial drone testing led to many crashes before achieving success.

A pair of international panelists on a seminar devoted to politics avoided predicting who would win the upcoming U.S. presidential election but they did advocate for the end of protectionism and a return to a more free trade environment, regardless of the outcome.

If you tuned in last Tuesday to the virtual SUNSET Rocks event, you’re probably still singing along to the playlist of rock, pop, and country hits played during the event. In its first ever virtual event, SUNSET Rocks brought in not one but four major recording artists for an exclusive event that connected the entire industry and raised funds for the non-profit organization, Brighter Bites. The event was a massive success, far surpassing the partnership’s fundraising goal thanks to the generous donations made by sponsors and viewers.

A quick survey of a dozen attendees to the Produce Marketing Association’s virtual Fresh Summit revealed a solid score for effort, execution and education, but the in-person experience was sorely missed.
