This year, 11 participants completed the third annual Viva Fresh Clean Eating Challenge, which culminated at the Viva Fresh Expo last month. Since 2020, the challenge has captured the attention of the produce industry as participants challenge themselves every year to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their daily routines. As a welcome bonus, participants have lost more than 1,000 pounds in the three years of the challenge and have enjoyed even more positive side effects.

The Texas International Produce Association teamed up with North Texas Food Bank of Plano, TX, to make a 15,403-pound fresh produce donation at the conclusion of the recent Viva Fresh Produce Expo. These fresh fruits and vegetables will provide roughly 12,800 meals for north Texas families in need.

The donation is made possible thanks to the 200 companies that exhibited a wide array of fresh produce at the Viva Fresh Expo. The donation will provide fresh produce for food pantries and meal programs throughout north Texas.

GRAPEVINE, TX — The Texas International Produce Association saw a capacity crowd converge on its annual Viva Fresh Expo, held April 21-23, here, at the Gaylord Texan Resort on the outskirts of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. While the expo returned with a limited capacity last year, this year's show saw pent-up demand bring attendees in droves from across the supply chain.

Village Farms Fresh will be participating in the Viva Fresh Expo in its home state of Texas this week.  Farming flavor-forward Texas-grown tomatoes is a strong key value proposition for Village Farms Fresh to offer customers. The company is a proud member of the Texas Department of Agriculture, Go Texan program, as well as a member of the Texas International Produce Association.

Ruiz Sales, an importer and distributor of tropical items from Mexico, with an emphasis on Persian limes, has relocated from its longtime warehouse in Pharr, TX, to a larger location up the road in Edinburg, giving it more room to expand its operations.

“We had been in our Pharr warehouse for many years, but in December we moved to a larger space in Edinburg, which gives us the opportunity to increase volume and work more efficiently,” said Richard Ruiz, president and owner.

Fresh Farms, a Mexico-based grower and shipper of table grapes and vegetables, is in the middle of an expansion program that will see tremendous increase in its volume in the coming years.
